Asian Fusion Food that you like trapped in a tortilla . .Komodo used to be a food truck well it still is a food truck, BUT they upgraded and got themselves 2 restaurants.
Location | I believe the have 3 maybe 4 locations. Since they have a traveling food truck still you would have to follow the on twitter to figure out the pop up stops. They do make regular stops on Tuesdays in El Segundo, Thursdays in Santa Monica and Fridays at Miracle Mile and all trucks are open from 11pm tot 2am. They have on restaurant in Venice and another (which I had went to) in LA. The one in LA is located just a few minutes away from the Tar Pits and LACMA. Parking is not easy at all because it lays on a busy street and they only have street parking that always seems full because of the other shops they have on the block.
Type of Eats | Its Asian fusion food so basically from Thai food to Korean meats it is served to you on a soft tortilla. They are gluten free, and have vegetarian options available. There are 12 choices in tacos that you can chose from a normal taco called The Signature to creative ones called Fish & Grapes, Soi taco (has Mongolian stir), Blazin Shrimp Taco (Spicy Singaporean Shrimp), Java taco (Indonesian pork) and so many more! You can upgrade your tacos and turn them into burritos or have them in a rice bowl. They also serve 6 different kinds of salads and 6 rice plates as well. And have many side dishes to chose from corn on the cob to truffle fries to meatballs.
My Opinion | I like tacos and i love asian food so combing them together is just right for me. They are basically incorporating Asian flavors and ingredients with Mexican-styled tacos, which created a perfect middle ground for both types of cuisines to complement each other. The food comes out quickly depends on how busy they are and staff were all friendly and efficient in getting our orders and refills. My favorite is getting either the Killer Combo (4 tacos and a drink) or the Deadlly Combo ( 2 tacos, 1 fries & drink ). With the killer combo option it comes out so much cheaper then getting them individually and you its always nice to have many different options on your taco. Now, with the Deadly combo it is pretty much perfect because I like getting 2 tacos but I also love sides and I would either pick between the tots, garlic friends or truffle fries (they come out hot and fresh!). I would definitely suggest this place to anyone that likes Asian food or is interested in trying new things. The only downfall if you plan on going to the LA one is looking for parking because it is terrible.
Prices | Taco’s are $3 each. Upgrade burrito $8 or Rice bowl $10. All Combos are $10. Salads are between $9-10. Rice plates vary because they leave it to Market Price so you would have to check on arrival.
